In my league there are 12 teams and 4 make it to the playoffs.
1st week is a play all and 13th week is a play all and other 11 weeks are head-to-head and you play each team once.
Playoff spots are the following:
1st spot: top record
2nd spot: Highest point total of all 13 weeks
3rd spot: next best record
4th spot: next highest points
Me and another team both had the second best record at 8-5 to fight for the 3rd spot
The tie breaker is total points in regular season, we both had 1601.35 exactly (smh...)
The next tie breaker is the win/loss record between the tied team in head-to-head matchups.
I beat him in week 9.... That should be it then right?
Wrong, I am not in the playoffs and he is? Can someone help me
I tried to email support twice(5 times now) and I am kind of freaking out
Support just replied by telling me who the 1st-4th seeds in the playoffs are
If weeks 1 and 13 are play all, that means you played said team 3 times, what was the head to head in all 3 games. Maybe he won 2 out of 3. Look at that.
I looked at that and I had a win in the first week and he did not.
So I would have had 2 wins and him 1....
No matter how you look at it I should have the tie breaker...
I think the problem is that it is not using the Total points for the season to calculate the tie breaker.
He has more points in the 11 head to head games and we have the same exact points for the total season.
But the rules say specifically that the tie breaker if you are tied in record goes next to how many TOTAL
REGULAR SEASON points you have.
Thank you for the reply though.
Hopefully they will look at this if it has more action since they are not doing anything about it.
Here are some rules directly from the site:
In the event two or more teams are tied with the same win/loss record, the tie will be broken using the following criteria, in order:
Total Points Scored during the regular season. We both had 1601.35
Head to Head Win-Loss Record against all tied teams I beat him in Week 9
Total Points Scored in Head to Head games against all tied teams
Sounds fishy to me. I have a unrelated question tho. When you say a play all week does that mean that 6 highest scoring teams for the week get a win? So after all that it's still just 1 win for top 6 and 1 loss for bottom 6?
Yeah, they started that last year in our high stakes leagues, and it works pretty good....
There are no divisions and it is a 12 team league so that way everyone plays each other once.
The system seems to work good and gives everyone the same playoff opportunity since you can't
get there by playing in a weak division.... However, there is a misinterpretation in the way they are
calculating who goes to the playoffs...
I wish I could get someone that works there to look at this....
I literally had one response from someone at the site, and I explained everything in my email.
It is like he didn't even read the issue.
He just responded by telling me who was in the playoffs.
I think they are using the total points in head-to-head games to get the tie breaker and that would be easy
if you were just looking at the standings with the way the format is set up.
There is NO DOUBT in my mind that there is a mistake and I am supposed to be in the playoffs.
I see ChrisToeFer is in there right now looking at it.
You must be a Commissioner Chris?
If you have questions please let me know.
But also, please look at Total point standings, not points in games. That only calculates head to head games,
which I am not sure why
I actually came on here because I had a similar question/concern about a High Stakes League with the same playoff rules qualifier. My situation seems to be a bit different where I believe that I have the 4th playoff spot that is awarded to the remaining team with the "most points scored during the regular season", but I was not put into the playoffs-- I scored 1390 and the 4th playoff team scored 1324. Anyone have any idea how this can be? I sent an email to RT asking for clarity, but no reply.
Are you looking at the points standings, or the points in games right next to your record?
That points in games doesn't show the points scored in week 1 and 13....
ChrisToeFer got on my league site and saw what I was talking about and said they are fixing it!
ChrisToeFer is the man!
He said it is highly unlikely that two teams have the same record and same score down to a hundredth of a point
so it must have slipped through the cracks...
Maybe that's what I'm missing-- I guess I misread PF to mean Points Scored versus Total Points. Any idea what the difference is? It seems like all the weeks should count up till now so those numbers should be the same.
PF is just the points scored in head-2-head games, so doesn't include the play-all weeks (1 & 13). Total Points is the number you want to look at for your HS leagues.
